We were not made for this.

I’ve been trying hard since August (tho was a little off during September due to vacation) to post a weekly blog on Mondays. But, as sit here on this rainy Friday afternoon…. I am just feeling so numb.

I just saw the latest video posted of Renee Good’s murder and her last words…. and it’s too much. I am not going to have any brilliant things to say. I’m just sitting here writing about it because it’s real. And it’s not okay. And I’m so mad and sad.

It’s been a few days of processing this terrible news- but this new video showing how calm (and even smiling she was), saying,” I’m not mad at you”… moments before getting murdered. It’s too much for my system to make sense of.

An artist I love, Carissa Potter (People I’ve Loved) re-posted this art this week, and it pretty much sums things up.

We were not made for this. Take care of yourself in whatever way feels good. Be in community with your favorite people. Hug your loved ones and your pets. Smile at strangers and protect your neighbors. Recharge frequently and stand up when you can. Give yourself permission for rest. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed. It’s okay to be angry. It’s okay to feel numb. It’s okay to cry. It’s okay to scream. It’s okay to turn off your phone and go for a walk. It’s okay to not be okay, because the things happening right now in our world ARE NOT OKAY.
