Ready to stop treading water and make some real change?
Hi, I’m Katie Nasherson, LCSW
a therapist based in Kingston, NY
serving clients throughout New York and New Jersey.
Maybe something significant has changed-
or maybe you’ve simply reached a point where
you can’t keep living the way you have been.
Sometimes the moment that brings people to therapy isn’t a crisis,
but a realization: the life you built no longer quite fits.
And sometimes the moment is a big, unexpected event or change.
Either way, therapy can be the place where you pause,
rebuild your foundation, and grow into what comes next.
I work with women who are looking for more than quick coping strategies. They want to understand themselves more deeply and make meaningful changes in their lives.
In our work together, we slow things down enough to really understand what’s happening underneath the surface. Instead of trying to force decisions or “fix” anxiety, we get curious about the patterns, fears, and protective strategies that have shaped how you navigate your life.
Sessions tend to feel like thoughtful, honest conversations — the kind where things start to make sense in new ways. I’ll ask questions, offer reflections, and help you notice patterns you may not have seen before. There’s space for humor, honesty, swearing and the occasional moment of realizing something important about yourself.
Over time, the goal isn’t just to manage anxiety or get through a difficult period. It’s to help you rebuild your foundation so you can move forward with more clarity, self-trust, and intention. To truly live your best life.
Are you usually “the strong one”?
Over the years, I noticed a pattern in the women who came to see me. They were thoughtful, capable, and usually “the strong one” that other people relied on. Many had built meaningful careers, relationships, and lives that looked stable from the outside. But underneath that competence was often a quiet pressure — anxiety, self-doubt, or the sense that they had just barely been treading water.
When something suddenly shifts — a breakup, loss, burnout, or a major life crossroads — that pressure has nowhere left to go. And things fall apart (or at least it feels that way).
What these women need isn’t someone to tell them what to do. They need a space to slow down, make sense of what they are experiencing, and reconnect with their own clarity and instincts.
My work with women navigating big life transitions isn’t just professional — it’s personal. I know what it’s like when something in your life suddenly shifts and the path you thought you were on disappears overnight. When that happens, the work isn’t just about coping. It’s about rebuilding.
Clients Come to Me When…
• Anxiety and overwhelm have started running the show and old coping skills are no longer cutting it
• A breakup, loss, or major life change has flipped their world upside down
• The life they built looks fine on the outside, but internally something feels off
• They’re questioning relationships, career, or what they actually want from the next phase of life
• They’re tired of pushing through and feeling like a passenger in their own life- and want a clearer, steadier and more intentional way forward
• They’re ready to rebuild and grow into a life that feels more aligned with who they are now
Clients often say they feel a sense of relief early on in our work together.
…the relief of being able to speak openly without feeling judged or rushed to a solution. I bring a calm, attentive presence to sessions and take the time to really understand what’s going on beneath the surface.
Because of that, therapy often becomes a place where things begin to make sense in new ways. Clients start to see their patterns with more compassion, reconnect with their own instincts, and feel more confident navigating the decisions and changes ahead of them.

EMDR helps the brain process unresolved experiences that can keep anxiety, fear, or old patterns stuck in place. As the brain reprocesses these memories, their emotional intensity decreases and they begin to feel like something that belongs in the past.
-
Internal Family Systems (IFS) helps us understand the different parts of ourselves that drive anxiety, self-doubt, or pressure. When these parts are understood instead of pushed away, people often experience greater clarity, calm, and self-trust.

Walk & Talk Therapy takes sessions outdoors, where we talk while walking together. Many people find that being in nature and moving their bodies helps conversations flow more naturally and brings a sense of calm and clarity.

Rebuild & Grow…
really!
New Year’s Eve heading into 2020 (just three months before the whole world fell apart due to Covid-19) my world flipped upside down after an apartment fire.
[I have jokingly said that I got the preview of how the year was going to go… humor usually helps]
Shortly after the fire, I came up with the name Rebuild & Grow for my practice. At the time, I was living the incredibly hard — and sometimes surprisingly meaningful — process of rebuilding. I think I needed the reminder that growth could exist on the other side of something so difficult.
When you’re in the middle of rebuilding, it can be almost impossible to imagine what the “after” might look like. But growth has a way of emerging through the process, even when you can’t see it yet.
